Pakistani speedster Haris Rauf has tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the first Test against Australia which begins on March 4 in Rawalpindi, ESPNCricinfo reported. This might put him out of contention for the first Test match, in which he would have made his Test debut if he had been picked in the XI.

For now, Rauf has been put into isolation and will most likely be ruled out of the first Test in Rawalpindi, which begins on Friday. Rauf is yet to play a Test for Pakistan but was in the running for selection after the withdrawals of Hasan Ali and Faheem Ashraf with injuries picked up in the PSL last week.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had called up Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Wasim Jr to replace those two, but they may be compelled to look at options among their reserve players, which include Mohammad Abbas and Naseem Shah as cover.

We’re Feeling Incredibly Safe In Pakistan: Steve Smith After Death Threat To Ashton Agar

Meanwhile, Australia batter Steve Smith has quelled any worries for the cricket fans saying that the team feels incredibly safe in Pakistan. This comes after spinner Ashton Agar’s wife received death threats warning Agar to not travel to Pakistan with the Australian team.

PCB revealed that in their investigation, the threat was found to be not credible and not a risk. Even Cricket Australia said extensive security plans were in place for such social media activity and that the threat was “not considered a risk”. Steve Smith has also said that the entire Australian contingent trusts the security cover they have been given by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
