Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity rate crosses 6 pct with over 3000 new cases – Xinhua

ISLAMABAD, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) — Pakistan’s daily positivity rate of COVID-19 has crossed 6 percent on Wednesday with the confirmation of 3,019 new cases, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Thursday.

The NCOC, a department leading the nation’s campaign against the pandemic, said that the country conducted 49,270 tests on Wednesday and 3,019 of them were reported as confirmed cases.

Following the consistent increase in the daily cases since the start of this year, Pakistan’s overall tally surged to 1,312,267 cases including 1,260,045 recoveries.

The active cases have also increased to 23,230 including 651 in critical condition.

The pandemic killed five people on Wednesday, raising the country’s overall tally to 28,992 deaths. ■
