The Supreme Court on Monday acknowledged all audit petitions testing the court’s judgment in the official reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa aside from the one recorded by the appointed authority himself.

A 10-part seat, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, was hearing audit petitions recorded against the court’s June 19, 2020, judgment on the official reference in which the court had engaged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to direct an investigation into seaward resources of his mate.

The court’s short request expressed that “headings contained in paras 4 to 11 in the censured short request dated 19.06.2020 … alongwith supporting nitty gritty reasons given in the greater part judgment of a similar date are reviewed and saved.

The judgment added that “resultantly, any such procedures, activities, orders or reports can’t be thought of or followed up on or sought after any further by any gathering or authority including the Supreme Judicial Council.”

The top court acknowledged the audit petitions by a lion’s share of 6-4. Equity Maqbool Baqar, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Mazhar Alam acknowledged the petitions.

Nonetheless, Justice Isa’s audit request was acknowledged by five appointed authorities and excused by five adjudicators. Equity Afridi acknowledged all comparable petitions yet excused Justice Isa’s appeal probably based on the point he had kept up all through the hearings — an appointed authority can’t be a solicitor himself.
